BIOGRAPHY
Actor, singer and comedian, Eric Marlon Bishop, known as Jamie Foxx, was born on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas, USA. His mother was an adopted child and when her marriage failed, she decided to adopt little Jamie of seven months.
He had a very strict upbringing: he participated in a Boy Scout group, the church choir and played quarterback on the high school team. He studied music at the United States International University. In 1989 a girlfriend dared him to go on stage at a Comedy Club, which led him to change his name to Jamie Foxx. A Grammy winner, he released his first album Peep This in 1994, followed by Unpredictable (2005), Intuition (2008), The Best Night of My Life (2010) and Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses (2015).
In 1992 he made his film debut with the film Toys and in 1996 he had his own television show: The Jamie Foxx Show (1996). His film career includes films such as Django Unchained (2012), Assault on Power (2013), The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro (2014) and Annie (2014), among many others.
He has won several awards and recognitions, including an Oscar for Best Actor, a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, for his work in the biographical film Ray (2004). He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the action film Collateral (2004). Among his latest projects are the films All-Star Weekend and Robin Hood, to be released between 2018 and 2019.
