BIOGRAPHY
Attracted to the stage since adolescence, Victor Garber experienced his first success on the stage in 1972, thanks to his interpretation of Jesus in Godspell , which took him from his native Canada to Broadway. After participating in the adaptation of the play on the big screen the following year, the young actor tried his hand at television and played in 1985 in an episode of The Fifth Dimension and in I Had Three Wives .
After appearing, between 1991 and 1993, recurrently in the Canadian drama ENG Reporters de Chocs , Garber became more present in the cinema. He played in Graine de star , alongside Michael J. Fox , opposite Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle , then played Goldie Hawn ‘s ex in 1996 in Le Club des exes . In 1998, he even starred in the 11th Oscar-winning film Titanic , playing Thomas Andrews, the architect of the infamous liner.
In 2001, the Canadian actor made a notable return to the small screen when he agreed to play CIA agent Jack Bristow in Alias , the spy show created by JJ Abrams . After five years spent in the shoes of the father of the heroine played by Jennifer Garner , Garber, who continues to perform in parallel in numerous shows on Broadway, including Art and Follies , appears in the credits of the legal series Justice in 2006 and Eli Stone in 2008. The latter also allowed him, for two seasons, to put his very comprehensive theatrical training to good use during tasty song and dance sequences.
While he also stands out as a guest of choice in Ugly Betty , Nurse Jackie , or even Glee , the actor does not forget the seventh art. He actually toured under the direction of Gus Van Sant in Harvey Milk , made a brief appearance in The Town , directed by Ben Affleck , and played Jamie Lee Curtis ‘s husband in 2010 in Again You! . After lending his voice in 2011 to Master Rhino Lightning in the animated film Kung Fu Panda 2 , he reunited with Affleck for Argo, Oscar for best film in 2013, in which he is the Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor, during the Iranian revolution of 1979.
On the television side, Victor Garber became in 2011 the voice of Charlie in Charlie’s Angels , the short-lived remake of Funny of Ladies , then obtains the recurring role of Kip, the husband of Fiona Wallice, the psychologist of a new genre played by Lisa Kudrow , in Web Therapy . Viewers also see him, among others, in Sleepy Hollow , The Good Wife , Deception , and, in 2015, in The Slap , American adaptation of the mini-series La Gifle , in which he serves as narrator.
The same year, Garber starred in the science fiction film Renaissances , directed by Ryan Reynolds , and the thriller Sicario , directed by his compatriot Denis Villeneuve . At the same time, he joins the cast of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow , a spin-off of Arrow and Flash ordered by the American channel The CW. Alongside Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell , he reprises the role of Doctor Martin Stein, which he previously played in the adventures of the supersonic Barry Allen, in this show which sees superheroes team up with formidable villains to try to save the world.
